Yes, me included. Sometimes I forget how good I have it, how lucky I am. Sure, we all hit rough spots. Really rough spots. And we lose perspective. I fully believe that our happiness is 95% attitude, 2% luck, 3% what actually happens to us. It is our CHOICE to be happy. I have known people who have been through worse shit than me and have been more fulfilled, happier, and sweeter than me (people I strive to emulate). And I have known people that were exceedingly lucky—smart, attractive, well-off, functional, loving families that were 100% supportive, and they were the most miserable creatures. They didn’t get it and they may never get it. They were awful to be around and every day was the worst day of their life.
Do not be like them. It is unnervingly easy to fall into self-pity and misery. I know that sometimes I start to slip down that path, which is why I have Louis C.K. And good friends to give me reality check every once in a while :)
Don’t fall into pessimism, spoiled brattism, etc. etc. Louis C.K. is a genius in this respect. He may be acerbic, angry, crude, but I think he says some of the best things and actually has some points to live by.
